MLS Game to Watch: Sporting KC vs. Real Salt Lake

Two teams atop of their conferences come face to face for a showdown in Kansas City this Saturday.
Sporting KC will have the home field advantage.

Equal on points, Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake are looking to gain some comfort by distancing themselves from other contenders for the one seed in their strong early season starts.

Salt Lake are 5-1-0 thus far in 2012, three points clear of an impressive early San Jose, but only since they have played one more game under their belts.

They will look to adjust the 5-0-0 record of their Kansas City hosts to match their own, as Sporting currently sit six points clear from second placed New York in the East.

However, Sporting Kansas City are not looking to loosen their grip on the top spot in the West, hoping to repeat last years performance which included a 2-0 home victory over Real Salt Lake.

Each team is coming off of significant home wins, Kansas City overthrowing 2011 Champions Los Angeles Galaxy, and Salt Lake defeating their rivaled Colorado Rapids.

Both Kansas City and Salt Lake were seen out of the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs in their conference finals, each team having only been decorated by the Cup glory once in their young but illustrious histories, proving more similarities between the two sides than one would imagine.

Livestrong Sporting Park will be sure to see this match lives up to its potential noise wise, as one can expect the KC Cauldron to be boiling over as they urge their men forward, striving to keep their season record flawless.
